Yes, you guessed it right, we will dive deeper into the realm of the Bad-Blood Predator from the Dark Horse Comic book series Predator: Bad Blood, carrying the story in four volumes from 1993 to 1994. This unhinged hunter was so rowdy, that he left a trail of bodies and chaos across New Jersey and broke every rule in the Yautja Honour Code.

Who is the Bad Blood Predator?
First things first, let’s get our basics straight! Who is the bad-blood predator? Let us concentrate on the Bad Blood part and what makes someone Bad Blood. We have been throwing the word around a lot!
In the lore of Yautja, the fearless, honourable hunters we also called Predators, there is a term that nobody wants to be associated with, even the most fearsome avoid it like the plague. The term being- Bad Blood! To put it simply, and without exaggeration, a bad blood is a Yautja too, but a traitor. Someone who defies or disregards the sacred honour code that governs their society. Now you may ask what if a Yautja commits a crime by mistake or even unintentionally? Even if it’s unintentional, Bad Bloods commits crimes so heinous that they are disowned by their own, they live a life as outcast beings only to be hunted by their own kind with absolutely no chance of second chances or redemption.
After brushing up your memory with some basics, let’s bring our focus back to zero in on the Bad Blood predator from The Predator: Bad Blood, a dark horse comic series. This being is an unhinged, rogue, aloof psychopath who has launched a full-blown carnage on earth, particularly in New Jersey. He has the world shaken up on its knees by his killing spree, sparing not even his own kind.
Curious about his backstory yet? What drove him to such madness? Keep listening, there is more! Very little is known about the bad-blood predator, but something must have brought a storm into his life. He was once a Yaujta of profound skill and immense power. At one point he snapped, killing people. Not just one, but he killed at least six of his own kind in a psychotic spree. The mayhem he caused crossed numerous boundaries, and hunters had to intervene. Elite hunters who are entrusted to eliminate bad blood are called enforcer predators. They were tasked to put an end to him, but at what cost? They followed the bad-blood predator to the earth, starting a domino of the bloodiest and sickest chapters in predator history.
The Bad Blood Predator’s Role
The Predator: Bad Blood series published by Dark Horse Comics from 1993 to 1994 throws us into the world of rampage featuring the rogue Yautja’s chaos. Without wasting any time as soon as Bad Blood Predator landed in New Jersey, he turned the area into a slaughterhouse spreading his horror across the city. But do not make the mistake of thinking he must be a serial killer! It wasn’t a calculated crime or a hunt like a typical predator. He does not even discriminate, you never know who he might kill – a human, an animal or his own kind! He is a bloodthirsty butcher!
His journey to cynicism begins with kicking off his murderous journey on Earth. The bad blood predator killed 6 of his own and topped the list of enemies in the Yautja circle. The elders had to intervene and send enforcers after him which led to the chase. We already talked about his ship crashing in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens following a space chase with Enforcer Predator. He damages his Bio Helmet in the process. He stumbles upon a paintball range. Bad blood without wasting much time, starts his slaughtering business. He starts with the paintball park manager Chris, in more gruesome detail he also dismantles his head and takes it away wearing it around his belt like a trophy. The horror was witnessed by John Plunick, the range’s owner. He was saved by two very unlucky cops. Like we said, he does not discriminate, along with the manager he also killed two guard dogs. Soon he starts hunting hunters and civilians increasing his body count exponentially.
First on his killing spree, he destroyed Loudermilk’s CIA units carving a path of havoc. He racked up body after body. John Plunick was not done with the bad blood predator yet. He returns with his old black ops friends. The black ops team led by John Pulnick were not aware of the monster they were going to face. In the meantime, an enforcer finds the bad blood predator and keeps him on his toes until Loudermilk’s man shoots the enforcer down instead of the bad blood predator. The Enforcer isn’t dead yet. As the predator tries to take advantage of the opportunity and finish off the enforcer predator, John Plunick arrives giving the enforcer time to save himself and run. This also gives Bad Blood Predator an opportunity to disappear in the woods.
The atrocities he rained down did not disappear with his disappearance in the woods, he killed Deputy Kelso and a group of hunters. Bad Blood Predator also starts eating human flesh, letting his cannibalistic instincts shine bright. He starts with eating the hunters he killed. Enforcer predator finds bad blood predator again, but bad blood predator’s barbarity knows no bounds. He ripped the enforcer’s spiked helmet and killed the enforcer with it.
The bad blood predator took over the enforcer’s ship and damaged a CIA chopper with a spear! Loudermilk and his men tracked him down but their enthusiasm was in vain. They were slaughtered brutally! Unable to give up, you know who comes to fight the bad blood predator next? It was the black ops again! They fought bravely but the savagery won. Two members died first, John Plunick was torn apart by the bad blood predator and Mandy Graves lost her hand. The burden to free this universe of this evil Yautja fell into the shoulders of Mandy Graves, the sole survivor of her team. Her courageous spirit driven by vengeance for the death of her husband lures the bad blood predator into her trap. But the bad blood predator is mighty, it’s not a child’s play. The tables turn and he captures her and toys with her by tying her. But she is engulfed by revenge and she is desperate too. Mandy finally escapes. She takes him down during a ruthless showdown in the forest. How does she do it? Mandy Graves hits a bullseye by shooting the Bad Blood Predator down on his head!
The Bad-blood predator kills for only one thing- pleasure! We think this very reason makes him so terrifying, as unlike him other predators hunt worthy opponents to prove their skills. Time and time again he makes it very clear that he has no regard for the Yautja code of honour. He acts like a sadist living out his destiny as a dreadful hunter.
So this makes the bad blood predator’s role pretty clear, he is a force of mayhem, unbound by any code threatening all those that come in his way, it doesn’t matter if you’re a human, animal or a great Yautja. He is the ultimate villain, a monster carving his way through slaughter and mindless murders.
The bad blood predator’s appearance
For those who have seen how visually striking the Bad Blood Predator looks know his appearance screams a rebellious brat and a walking trophy of his gruesomeness. For those who have not seen must be curious, so let’s break down the face of fear itself.
To call him intimidating would be an understatement, he is a giant. He is taller than most Yautja, almost standing over eight feet tall. He looks dangerous with his piercings and tattoos. He has a tattoo right on his forehead, a piercing through his left brow and two chest rings that mimic human nipple piercings.
The tattoos and piercings were not enough; the bad blood predator had to make it more frightening! This is where his armour comes into the picture. He does not wear regular armour, like the other predators. Other predators are proud owners of sleek Hi-tech gear, but the bad-blood predator likes his armour like he likes his hunt. He wears his victim’s skulls and bones as shoulder plates and knee braces. To break it down for you, he wears a Yautja skull on one of his shoulders and a spine on the other. He had a bio helmet too just like his other gear, which broke during one of his psychotic encounters in a battle. Now we think it’s obvious why we said he was a walking trophy! Because he wears his victims like a badge of honour for his menace, like he owns his victims even after they are far gone.
The Bad Blood Predator’s abilities
The bad blood predator has no superpowers. Why would he need those when he has his mental and physical strength off the chart? His actions may make him look like a mentally unstable piece of work but the bad-blood predator is a combat juggernaut. His immense agility helps him take down multiple opponents easily like it is a kid’s play. Without breaking a sweat, he killed six Yautjas and slaughtered several humans. He even held up a good fight against an enforcer predator who was specially trained to hunt and kill bad Bloods. He often gets injured though but he has a very high threshold for pain, he can fight through the pain and injury making him even more destructive.
He has lost parts of his gear, like he lost his bio helmet but that doesn’t make him weak instead he adapts quickly. It’s chilling how even after losing his bio helmet he can pinpoint his victims with brilliant precision. Apart from extraordinary adaptability, it also shows his heightened senses. If the bad blood predator is in a close combat fight with anyone, we would be placing our bets on him, he is a master of close-quarter combat! He is very resourceful as well, using his environment to his advantage. He ambushes his victims by setting traps during battles, making him a nightmare to face.
The bad blood predator’s weapons
After talking on and on about the bad blood predator’s physical and mental strength, let’s talk about his arsenal. Although not as fancy as the other Yautja’s arsenal he does have some weapons that come in handy whenever he needs assistance. Unlike other Yautja he did have a plasma caster, but it got destroyed when his ship crashed. Like we said he is resourceful, he makes the best of what he has. He modified his wrist blades, instead of the standard two blades he has three giving him an upper hand in close fights. The razor-sharp blades cut through flesh and bones like they are nothing but vegetables, giving him an edge.
He uses spikes to spear severed heads of humans, animals and Yautjas, that’s his method to collect trophies. He wears them around his belt, a distasteful attempt at showing his authority and a chilling reminder of his disregard for the code of conduct. He also uses ropes to restrain his victims whenever he wishes to prolong their suffering. Even though his ship crashed, it still houses hi-tech machinery, aiding him in his evil.
He is unpredictable and deadly, it’s terrifying to even imagine the bridges and boundaries of frenzy he is capable of crossing in his need to destroy everything and everyone without any purpose.
Marvellous Verdict
The Bad Blood Predator from the Predator: Bad Blood is the most unsettling addition to the Yautja universe. He is definitely one of the stand-out villains of all time in the Predator franchise. He has insulted the Yautja honour code left and right by going rogue. His story was short and only spread across four volumes, it leaves its lasting blood-stained marks on you as it is so inhumanising, it’s startling to see what a predator might do if it’s left without constraint.
The Dark Horse Comic does commendable work at bringing this story alive with its brilliant pacing and out-of-this-world art. The four volumes of the comic perfectly capture the descent of the bad-blood predator to madness. If you’re a fan of dark underworlds or horror or anything that psychs you up, then The Predator: Bad Blood is for you.
